VOLUNTEERING

Giving Back and Helping Others Admit it You’re pretty lucky. It's a pretty common mistake to think of volunteering as just something nice that people can do. Sure, it may make them feel great about helping, but what impact does it really have? Getting things done Volunteers have an enormous impact on the health and well-being of communities worldwide. Think of all the ways that volunteers make a difference in day-to-day life: Volunteers tutor, teach, and support young people with everything from English to mathematics. Volunteers educate the public on health and safety; doctors and nurses donate time and medical knowledge to free clinics services Volunteers involved in construction and renovation of schools, and repair infrastructure around the placement areas. Volunteers lobby for funds through fundraising for projects and children's education sponsorship You get the idea…     Getting things done Volunteers have an enormous impact on the health and well-being of communities worldwide.   Think of all the ways that volunteers make a difference in day-to-day life: Volunteers tutor, teach, mentor, coach, and support young people with everything from teaching English or math homework to dealing with personal needs of the beneficiaries  Volunteers educate the public on health and safety; doctors and nurses donate time and medical knowledge to free clinic services. NOW:

Are you eager to help? Change your life and many others? We feel you could achieve this while working with us at the Volset volunteer placement. We are situated in Ntenjeru, Mukono district in Uganda, with the help of past volunteers and funders we have managed to build a school that is currently helping close to 300 kids of which some are born with HIV, others are homeless or orphaned and many are normal.

Our prospects that you could help us achieve are:-

Getting funds for buying HIV testing kits. The government of Uganda does free HIV testing however they do not go to further areas like islands or far north therefore we find it to be our mission to go and help people that are much harder to reach.-

Building a kitchen building. At the moment we only achieved to build a wooden hut that can hardly fit three pots inside using huge amounts of firewood that gets out and pollutes the air.-

Acquiring computers so we can began to teach IT. We believe that would be a crucial skill for them to acquire however we cannot afford buying computers. We already got a classroom ready for them to use but we need every possible help to get the computer

Apart from all of the above we would love for you to come, teach kids of age 3 to 12 years, subjects varying between English, maths, etc.

FEES

You are welcome to come stay with us for just as long as you wish starting from a month up to a few years. Your help is very appreciated and needed. You will be required to pay a negotiable fee ranging from one month to 12 months.  This goes towards your accommodation, water, meals, transport from / to Entebbe International Airport and administrative costs.
